The Department of Land Economy, KNUST is offering an opportunity for persons wishing to acquire knowledge and enhance their competence in dealing with land management matters to pursue the Master of Science programme in Land Governance and Policy. The programme, among others, equips students to employ contemporary theories and technologies in analyzing land-related problems, evaluating land policies, and resolving land-related conflicts. Dr Kenneth Donkor-Hyiaman wins the 'Most Promising Senior Member' awards at the 2nd CABE Excellence Awards

Congratulations to Dr Kenneth Appiah Donkor-Hyiaman on winning the "MOST PROMISING SENIOR MEMBER" at the 2nd College of Arts and Built Environment (CABE) Excellence Awards event last night. The CABE Excellence Awards award the work and efforts of the college staff. The "MOST PROMISING SENIOR MEMBER" award goes to a senior member (academic) who joined the university within the last three years and has made the most outstanding contribution to teaching, research, and service to the  university, nation, and international community.

Behavioural finance, property values and housing conversion in Urban Ghana

Abstract In recent years, scholars have explained the factors driving the conversion of residential accommodation to retail units in African cities from an economic standpoint, which indicates high demand for property owners and high potential profit for retail tenants. Nevertheless, these economic perspectives do not elucidate the reasons behind the increasing rate of vacancies in converted retail units amidst the high demand and profit.

Corporate Real Estate Management and Bank Profitability

Acquiring property for any business is capital intensive and for that matter, strategically managing such assets is considered equally important. This paper provides an analysis of the value-adding attributes of corporate real estate management (CREM) and bank performance in Ghana. The multiple regression method was applied to a cross-section of both primary and secondary data sourced from 25 commercial banks in Ghana.

Digital Models for Planning and Disaster Management

Due to the region’s proneness to occasional wildfires, the Geomatics Division at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, has conducted research and project work around the theme of 3D reconstruction plus contemporary urban mapping for planning and disaster management. New Staff Appointments: Dr Kwabena Obeng Asiama

Profile Dr. Kwabena Obeng Asiama joins the Department as a lecturer from the Geodetic Institute of the Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany, where he was a lecturer and leader of the Land and Real Estate Management Working Group. Kwabena received his PhD and MSc from the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente with a focus on Land Administration. He completed BSc Land Economy at KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana.

Profile   Professor Anthony Owusu-Ansah is an alumnus and joins us from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), where he was Associate Professor of Finance at the Business School and head of the Department of Finance and Accounting.

Alumnus of the Month - October 2021

Today is a good time to celebrate one of our own. We are excited to present Surveyor Mrs Janet Maame Adwoa Ghartey as our alumnus of the month of October 2021.Janet is a Building Manager at Broll Ghana Limited, the leading property management company in Ghana, and has direct responsibility for the Accra Financial Centre. She is a member of the 2013 year group.
